Nice, comfortable hotel. In a brilliant location directly outside the train station and a few minutes from city centre. Never had any interaction with staff but they appeared to be friendly. Bedroom extremely comfortable clean and cool. Only complaint the shower wasn't very powerful. I would definitely return again
This hotel is lovely. The beds and pillows were amazing as were the rooms so spotless. The breakfast well that was delicious so fresh. A whole variety to suit all tastes. Would definitely stay here again

I had such an amazing stay at the Crowne Plaza, staff were warm and attentitive, room service came early and the food was to a high standard. There were even computers and a printer on the ground floor for you to use at leisure, as well as a lemon-infused water dispenser (with glasses) on the 1st floor. As for issues: the bathroom lock in my twin room did not work and there was a slight stain on the ceiling, however not entirely noticeable (pictures attached). Overall would strongly recommend.
I've just been here with 3 friends for an overnight spa package. This was an amazing deal we got lunch, use of the spa and one treatment plus bed and breakfast. Good choice of lunch, I'd recommend the super food salad! The pool jacuzzi and steam room were nice. We had a half hour treatment each I had a back massage it was very good, nice professional therapist. The hotel rooms were spotless with nice touches such as pillow spray, very comfy huge bed! We are out but had a few drinks in the bar which had a great atmosphere. Last but not least the breakfast...this was fab, loads of choice of hot and cold food, excellent service. Overall this was a lovely hotel to stay in and I would definitely recommend.

By far the best hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are luxury with everything you could possibly need. Breakfast was self service and catered for every taste. So much choice I had a three course breakfast! Staff helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, whether you need a hotel for business or pleasure this is the one...spoil yourself!
After Being let down at the last minute, we called for a table of 4 for our daughters birthday lunch. They went out of there way with 15 mins notice to decorate a table with balloons and glitter hearts for her. We are so grateful and it so nice to see real customer service. well above and beyond. Beautiful setting and beautiful hotel. Will be back again soon.

Very nice traditional pub. It felt good to go somewhere so well run, comfortable and that actually felt like a real public house! Fantastic home cooked food, a few meal deal evenings. All round it was a very nice unexpected surprise.... A proper good change from cardboard cloned chain pubs!
Always good. Excellent beer, mix of their own local brewery and big brands, friendly staff, very popular food (although this is an observation of other people as I am a regular drinker rather than a diner). Couple of screens for the sports fans and outside seating. Variety of newspapers available. They run a credit card type points scheme for free drinks and general money credit.

There is no food anymore sold in The Ropewalk, so the staff allows you to bring food from other places there. It is a great place to go with friends, play some pool, darts and ping-pong while having a beer. Their best beer they serve, in my humble opinion, is the czech lager Kozel.
Good drinking pub. Fairly studenty on weekdays

Constantly praising Castle Rock joints would get tiresome if they weren't just so bloody great. This venue is tucked away in the Lace Market in the shadow of St Mary's, serving a pretty diverse range of cask and craft. Beware the occasional pint of craft beer that comes in at over a fiver. It's all very nice except the price! With a modestly sized bar area, it's often busy, and it's not unknown for the St Mary's choir to be filling up the space after a service (and, rumour has it, usually before as well). Staff are Castle Rock vintage and thus thoroughly personable as well as knowing their IPA from their elbow, which isn't always the case in a popular venue just down the hill. No real outside seating to speak of except a couple of tables just outside the door. If you catch this place when it's quiet it's a lovely little haven in the Lace Market and when it's buzzing you know you're in for a good time. For a bonus point, who was Kean and why did he part company with his head...?
Interesting ales from around the globe, my first was off but excusable seeing they have so many. Food was disappointing, chef had a chronic cough all the way through prep that could be heard right the way through the pub, barman was to busy on his laptop to be of much help. Top marks for the idea just could be executed better.
